“It’s not the will to win that matters—everyone has that. It’s the will to prepare to win that matters.”
Dolphins Swim Club Kampala uses a progressive age-group programme designed to develop the swimmer in a systematic fashion. A well-defined, long-term approach of gradually increasing degrees of commitment is essential to reach peak performance levels during a swimmer’s physiological prime. In the early stages of participation, emphasis is placed on developing technical skills and love for the sport.
In the later years, a more demanding physical and psychological challenge is introduced to the training programme.
As each child is different, they will progress at different rates. The coaching staff recognises this fact by making team assignments based on a swimmer’s physical, mental, and emotional level of development.
As general ability improves, the coaches keep moving the swimmer up along the development path – with increasing levels of challenge.
Our training classes are systematically arranged to ensure efficiency and appropriate development of various skills and abilities. Every week, each group or team is assigned a certain number of training hours on varying days, and every training session is assigned a suitable coach.
The Club’s comprehensive training schedule is available to all our swimmers.
Throughout the year, the Club competes in a number of carefully selected and segmented championships in and out of the country. Here are the major championships featuring Dolphins’ participation this year.
